SUMMARY

Treponema Pallidum (TP) is a spirochete bacterium with an outer envelope and a cytoplasmic membrane that is responsible for causing the sexually transmitted infection Syphilis. Although relatively little is known about the organism in comparison with other bacterial pathogens, the number of cases of Syphilis infection has markedly increased since 1985, with factors such as drug use and prostitution contributing to this rise. Studies have also shown a significant correlation between the acquisition and transmission of HIV and Syphilis. Syphilis is characterized by multiple clinical stages and long periods of latent, asymptomatic infection, with Primary Syphilis defined by the presence of a chancre at the site of inoculation. The Syphilis Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay that utilizes a double antigen combination of a Syphilis antigen coated particle and Syphilis antigen immobilized on membrane to detect TP antibodies (IgG and IgM) qualitatively and selectively in whole blood, serum or plasma. It is intended for professional in vitro diagnostic use and should be handled with proper precautions to avoid exposure to infectious agents. Specimens should be collected with care and sufficient buffer should be used for accurate results.

PRINCIPLE

The Syphilis Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a diagnostic tool used to qualitatively detect TP antibodies (IgG and IgM) in whole blood, serum or plasma samples. The test utilizes a membrane-based immunoassay system with a double-antigen combination of recombinant Syphilis antigen immobilized on membrane and Syphilis antigen-coated particles in the test line region of the cassette. Once the specimen is introduced into the specimen well of the cassette, it reacts with the Syphilis antigen-coated particles, and the mixture then migrates chromatographically along the test strip, interacting with the immobilized Syphilis antigen. If the sample contains TP antibodies, a colored line will appear in the test line region, indicating a positive result. Conversely, a lack of colored line in the test area indicates a negative result. To ensure the test's accuracy, a colored line will always appear in the control line region, confirming that the proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred. The Syphilis Rapid Test Cassette (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is intended for clinical use by trained professionals and should be handled with proper precautions to avoid exposure to infectious agents. Specimens should be collected with care, and adequate buffer must be used to ensure reliable results.
