The mixture then migrates upwards on the membrane chromatographically through capillary action to react with anti-hemoglobin antibodies on the membrane, resulting in the generation of a colored line.

The presence of a colored line in the test line region indicates a positive result for the presence of Human Occult Blood in the sample, while the absence of a colored line indicates a negative result.
